Will Young Crossing The Pond

Three whole years after our Will Young released his last album, the Pop Idol winner has announced he is going to try and ‘break’ America.

The pop star took a few minutes out from his hectic schedule on his sell out tour to do a quick interview. He said, “I really want to go to Nashville. I am just thinking of who I want to write with over there.’

The 29 year old singing success has even hinted at following in the foot steps of fellow British star Robbie Williams to try his hand at acting whilst in the US.

‘I am very much still completely into the acting,’ he admitted.

‘It’s not a whimsical thing for me. I have done two jobs that have been received well and I am very lucky I am halfway in that cross from music to acting and I think it’s a very difficult thing to do. I am still having auditions. I just read a
script the other day. It’s all about getting the right job,’ he said.

Will received critical acclaim for his role in Mrs Henderson Presents in 2005, alongside British screen legend Dame Judi Dench before moving on to theatre to act in Noel Coward’s play, The Vortex.

‘I think I am three years into an acting career with two high-profile jobs, it’s still about learning the ropes in that industry. The last two (acting jobs) I have done, I am really pleased and hopefully, next year, I am going to have some more.’

However, the singer laments that success in the British Music Industry is not that hard to come by since he raced to the charts with a number one slot in 2002, with his quickest selling debut single Evergreen.

Conversely his latest single, Changes, only just made it into the top ten in the charts. ‘I think particularly for pop, it’s quite a tricky time,’ he commented.
