Billy Bob’s Daughter Jailed Awaiting Expert Witness Verdict
Actor Billy Bob Thornton’s estranged daughter has to stay in jail until the court heard from an expert witness.
Amanda Brumfield has been told she must stay in jail until witness in her case, Dr Jan Garavaglia can testify about evidence that has been submitted during her pre-trial hearing regarding first degree murder, aggravated child abuse and aggravated manslaughter of a child she was entrusted to babysit.
The Dr has been asked by the judge of the case to expand on the explanation of the cause of six bruises and a skull fracture found during the autopsy of the one year old girl that died while left in Ms Brumfield’s care.
The 29 year old was so overwhelmed by the trial she was ‘shaking and crying’ throughout yesterdays court hearing and has refused to look at pictures of the infants injuries as they were viewed in the courtroom.
‘Unimaginable Tragedy’
After her initial arrest, Ms Brumfield is thought to have told police that the child died after falling from her playpen and sustaining a head injury. However, she didn’t call for help for over two hours.
According to a later autopsy report, the child suffered from a fractured skull and a brain injury which caused her death. This is what led to the ruling of homicide.
At the time of the accident a police spokesman said: “It’s not believable that a one year old can balance themselves on a railing. We do believe her head hit a hard object but you would either have to fall harder or hit something with more force than a 28 inch playpen fall.”
After the arrest, Billy Bob’s publicist released the following information: “Mr Thornton is estranged from Amanda and has had no contact with her for quite some time.
“However, when informed about the situation, he commented that, ‘Any time a baby’s life is lost is an unimaginable tragedy and my heart goes out to the baby’s family and loved ones’.”
