Global superstar Beyonce Knowles has given birth to a baby girl. The Crazy in Love singer and her husband, rapper Jay-Z, aka Shawn Carter, have named their daughter Blue Ivy Carter - she was born on Saturday 7 January, 2012.

With speculation that Beyonce had given birth over the New Year weekend – Twitter rumours exploded that she had given birth to a girl and named her ‘Tiana- May’.  With no confirmation to support the claims meant that the media and the couple’s fans were left on tenterhooks for over a week until they finally revealed on Sunday that Beyonce had given birth on Saturday night.

Typically celebrity, the couple have given their daughter an unusual name. Blue Ivy has sentimental value for the couple as Ivy is based on the couple’s love of the number 4. With Beyonce’s birthday on the 4^th of September, Jay-Z’s  the 4^th of December, the couple married on the 4^th of April and finally with Beyonce’s most recent album called ‘4’, the couple decided to use the roman numeral IV (which they both have tattooed to their wedding fingers) to incorporate into the middle name Ivy. The name Blue is rumoured to be from Jay-Z’s collection of Blueprint albums.

With the most powerful couple in the music industry as parents, it is no doubt that Blue Ivy will be a superstar baby. She has already trended on Twitter and been tweeted about by celebrity friends of Beyonce and Jay-Z, including Gwyneth Paltrow and Beyonce’s sister Solange Knowles, both highlighting how loved she is going to be.

It has been reported that despite the birth of her first child Beyonce will continue to work hard and do the work that she loves. Beyonce’s hard working attitude has always been reflected in her music and any project she is involved in, so it is no surprise that she doesn’t want to stop working or slow down any time soon.

Beyonce and Jay-Z are the first celebrities to have a child in 2012, but they may not be the only big names to become first time parents this year. Speculation has surrounded Sienna Miller and boyfriend Tom Sturridge, with claims that the she is pregnant and rumours of an engagement. It is yet to be confirmed but it may be that Beyonce won’t be the only first time mum in celebville this year.

Beyoncé is the latest star rumoured to be headlining this year’s Glastonbury festival.

Last year, due to a back injury to their front man Bono, U2 had to pull out of their scheduled headline performance on June 25th at the fortieth Glastonbury festival. The band said they were “heartbroken” and in October they posted a message on their website, saying: “Looking at the tour dates – there is a gap in the band’s schedule ahead of the East Lansing show on June 26th, which would make the Friday night a possibility.” This was followed by a recommendation to U2 fans to try & get tickets. The group have also released a new song titled ‘Glastonbury’ which includes the line: “There are some things you just can’t control; sometimes you just can’t let go.” Founder & organizer of the festival, Michael Eavis was reportedly delighted back in November 2009 when U2 agreed to their first appearance at Glastonbury following his twenty six year quest to get them to headline the festival. So after last year’s disappointing pullout maybe this will finally be the year.

It has also been reported that Coldplay have agreed to perform at the festival & will headline the event on the Saturday. No strangers to Glastonbury, Coldplay also headlined back in 2005.

Eavis has reportedly said that his headliner for Sunday night would be “an American artist that I’ve been wanting for yonks and yonks”. It is strongly rumoured that this artist is to be Beyoncé. The artist has not previously performed at the event but attended the festival in 2008 when her husband Jay-Z headlined, winning over the previously sceptical festival goers in the process. While many may regard her inclusion in the line up as a sell out at what many view as an alternative festival, others will undoubtedly approve if her 2009 UK tour is anything to go by. Those who made it to any of her performances report show stopping live shows with amazing vocals & endless costume changes. The entertainment she offers could well be seen as a counterbalance to the heavier performances of the likes ofU2 & Coldplay.

The line up for this year’s festival is not due to be announced until the spring & festival organizers will neither confirm nor deny the rumours. Tickets for the festival, which went on sale on October 3rd, are all sold out

Six months have gone by, but Beyoncé Knowles is finally revealing all the juicy details of her private wedding to rap star Jay-Z. The singer, 27, told Essence Magazine in their November issue,

“What Jay and I have is real. It’s not about interviews or getting the right photo op. It’s real.”

Throughout their relationship, Beyoncé has famously avoided press coverage and refused to answer questions in interviews about their couple-dom. However, in this latest interview, she relaxes slightly and speaks a little about their wedding, but saying, “You’re gonna get me in trouble.”

The Crazy In Love star revealed she never wanted an engagement ring as felt it was an unnecessary materialism (although perhaps it was to keep it secret), saying,

“People put too much emphasis on that. It’s just material and it’s just silly to me.”

So, rather than wearing a ring, Miss Beyoncé wears a band on her wedding finger, which covers a tatoo. The tatoo is IV - the roman numerals for four - she was born on September 4th while her hubby was born on December 4th. Jay-Z has a matching tattoo on his ring finger.

Funnily enough, Beyoncé has declined to mention the $5 million 18 carat diamond ring by Lorraine Schwartz that she has been sporting since September…not materialistic aye??

Beyoncé avoided having the traditional big white wedding, keeping it small and intimate to keep in line with her values, saying it had “been her day so many times already”. Lucky her.

Beyoncé, who has a new album out on November 18th, has told Essence Magazine

“We’ve been together a long time. We always knew it would happen.”

Former Destiny?s Child singer and wife of rapper Jay-Z Beyonce Knowles has been tipped to beat stick-thin mess Amy Winehouse in the battle to record the new James bond theme song for Quantum of Solace.

Music industry insiders claim that Beyonce, 26, is the film maker?s favourite after Winehouse, 24, started her, seemingly endless, downward spiral.

Mark Ronson, Amy?s producer, pulled the plug on the recording session for the theme due to her erratic behaviour.

He said: ?We did work on it but we never finished it. I don?t think it will happen unless by some miracle it gets recorded and someone sings vocals.

?I?m not sure Amy is ready to work on music yet.?

The drug-addled walking hair-do Winehouse was pretty livid about his comments but they made up at the Ivor Novello awards, with Amy claiming, ?I?ve done loads of Bond songs I?m really happy with. I don?t know what the problem is.?

Her third album is on hold at the moment as her label wants her to clean up her act before they will release it. They are also holding her in her contract so she can?t make music for any other labels.

The choice is up to the late Bond producer Cubby?s daughter, Barbara Broccoli. If she gives the go ahead to Beyonce then she will likely start writing with British songwriter Amanda Ghost ? who is currently writing songs for Beyonce?s next album, as well as Shakira?s new one.

John Barry, 74 who was the former 007 musical mastermind is also rumoured to contribute for the first time in two decades.

He orchestrated the Dr No music in 1962 and co-wrote mot of the themes for the first 25 years of the franchise.

The new Bond film is released on October 31st.
