In a startling claim, pop star Jessica Simpson said in a recent interview that she has been abused.

The ?come on Over? singer made the confession in a candid interview with America?s Elle magazine, but refused to reveal anything else on the matter.

When asked if she had ever been physically abused, the singer said: “I don’t want to talk about it, but I have definitely experienced abuse in a way that I would tell people to take their heart and run.”

The singer said all the songs on her forthcoming country album ‘Do You Know’ are autobiographical.

One track ‘Remember That’ includes the lyrics: “It doesn’t matter how he hurts you, With his hands or with his words, You don’t deserve it, It ain’t worth it, Take your heart and run.”

The singer has previously revealed she was constantly bullied at school, with her tormentors even attacking her home.

She said: “I would walk down the school halls and hear people talking about me. Some of them would throw toilet paper at my house or throw eggs at my door.

“They would also write things on the sidewalk in permanent marker. They really hated me.”

The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or PETA as they are more often known, have blasted Jessica Simpson for wearing a T-shirt with the slogan, ?Real girls eat meat.?

The star of MTV hit, ?Newlyweds? is famous for saying ?blonde? comments, such as when she asked why Tuna was nicknamed ?chicken of the sea?. PETA has demanded the star eats more vegetables to increase her brain power.

A spokesperson for PETA said: “Jessica Simpson’s meaty wardrobe malfunction makes us thankful that no one is looking to her for food advice. Chicken of the sea anyone? The woman who thought that Buffalo ‘Wings’ came from buffalos would benefit from some good veggie brain food.”

However, Jessica?s friends claim she wore the T-shirt to poke fun at her boyfriend Tony Romo’s ex-girlfriend Carrie Underwood, who has twice been named the World’s Sexiest Vegetarian by PETA.

A source said: “Jessica is sick of hearing about how Tony still has feelings for Carrie. She’s obviously trying to poke fun at her rival and let her know who really has Tony’s heart.”

Carrie is such a strong believer in vegetarianism she once said: “If you told me I could never sing again, I’d say that was horrible, but it’s not my life. If you told me I could never be around animals again, I would just die.”
