Keira Knightley has employed a bodyguard to protect her after she was verbally abused on the street.

The actress was left shaken up after a not so friendly passer-by jumped out at her and screamed obscenities as she walked alone near her home in Richmond, London.

The 23-year-old star was so frightened by the incident that she spent lots of time in a private room at the after-party following the premiere of the ‘The Duchess’ on Wednesday.

She said: “The other day I was walking down the street and was really thinking about this book I’d been sent. You know when you’re really in another place. Somebody jumped out and went, ‘Keira Knightley!’

“I got such a shock, I couldn’t say anything because I’d been thinking about the book and this guy took incredible offence and started hurling the most amazing abuse.

“He said, ‘Who the f**k do you think you f***ing are? You’re such a ****.’ All this and I’m completely on my own.”

She added: “It’s a weird thing to have to deal with, not on a day-to-day basis, but it’s happened enough to make me quite jumpy.”

Kiera Knightly’s co-star Dominic Cooper had to wear a flesh coloured nappy for a sex scene with the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ actress in their latest movie, ‘The Duchess’. If that wasn’t bad enough, Kiera burst into hysterical laughter when she saw him wearing the piece.

Keira said: “We are all meant to be supportive of each other in these difficult and embarrassing scenes, but I took one look at him and just lost it.

“I couldn’t stop laughing because Dominic was trying to be dignified and aloof while looking completely ridiculous. The director came over and said, ‘Pull yourself together. This is serious work.’ “

Dominic admits his costume was not the most attractive of items.

He said: “On screen, it looks as if I am naked, but in reality I was wearing a flesh-coloured nappy which is held in place by being taped to my inner sanctum.

“And what did Keira do when she saw me? She burst out laughing. Unbelievable!”

Stick-thin Keira Knightley has reportedly ordered studio bosses from digitally enhancing her cleavage.

The 23-year-old actress ? who has starred in Pirates of the Caribbean, King Arthur and is filming ?The Duchess? ? is supposedly ?proud? of her modest assets and doesn?t want them changed for publicity shots.

A source said: “She has insisted that her figure stay in its natural state. She is proud of her body and doesn’t want it altered.

“But she looks flat-chested throughout the whole movie.”

Keira’s decision comes after her breasts were enlarged for posters and in publicity stills for her 2004 movie ‘King Arthur’.

She said at the time: “Those things certainly weren’t mine! I was like, ‘OK, fine. I honestly don’t give a s**t!’ “

Keira previously revealed she would like to have larger breasts, adding: “I would love to have boobs! I’m never going to get them. I’m naturally who I am.”
