Ryan Reynolds Declared ‘Sexiest Man Alive’
US magazine People has declared Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds, star of The Proposal and the forthcoming Green Lantern, as the “sexiest man alive.”
Reynolds has also appeared in several other blockbuster movies, such as Blade: Trinity, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and Smokin’ Aces.
The 25-year-old feature has been an annual hit for the magazine and it’s the first time Reynolds has featured.
Speaking of his achievement, Reynolds declared “this gives my family entry into teasing me for the rest of my life.”
The award has been held by some big Hollywood names, with George Clooney, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp topping the list in recent years.
“The most difficult part is going to be organically working this title into a conversation with random strangers,” Reynolds explained.
“The sexiest thing about Canadians is that there’s an inherent ability to be self-deprecating. That has served me well in my career and personal life.”
Fellow actors seem to be fully behind People’s decision to put Reynolds at the top of the list.
George Clooney revealed that he is ”very happy for him” and included ”I’m also happy that it’s not Brad.”
Reynolds has also starred as a US contractor, working in Iraq who is buried alive in the film ‘Buried’.
Once engaged Canadian singer/songwriter Alanis Morissette, he married fellow Hollywood actress Scarlett Johansson in 2008.
Recent reports have suggested that the celebrity couple have been going through a rocky period in their relationship caused by hectic work hours.
One source revealed that “they are working through relationship troubles caused primarily by work schedules that keep them apart.”
A lack of compromise on both parts isn’t helping either, according to one insider: “Nothing is going to change unless Scarlett and Ryan can learn to compromise — and they won’t.
“Scarlett won’t cancel anything she has coming up or wants to go to, and neither will Ryan.”
“They’re struggling to see eye-to-eye on almost anything,” a source told US newspaper the National Enquirer.
“From when to start a family — he’s ready, but she isn’t — to her smoking and what she sees as his reckless motorcycle riding.
“What’s making matters worse is that their busy careers are keeping them apart, so they get really out of sync.
“It’s gotten so bad that neither of them is hurrying home just to start fighting again.”
