Will Duffy be Saying: Thank You for the Music?

Everyone remembers the legendary ABBA, especially after the summer hit ‘Mamma Mia!’, released as a film last year and still going strong. The original theatrical musical has just celebrated its 10 year in production anniversary, and is based around the songs written and performed by ABBA in the ‘70’s and still popular today.

ABBA shot to fame in 1974 after singing their hit ‘Waterloo’ in the Eurovision song contest. Now, one member of the group is asking permission of a more recent star to do a collaboration.

It is thought that Bjorn Ulvaeus is a huge Duffy fan because of her extremely unusual voice, and says that he would love to do a collaboration with the current star, famous for her hit songs ‘Mercy’ and ‘Warwick Avenue’.

He said: “I always listen to Duffy’s hit ‘Mercy’ when I’m in the car, She’s fantastic, very unusual. I love her original sound and distinctive voice.

“If Duffy asked to use ABBA’s music and did it cleverly in the way Madonna did, I might consider agreeing to it.”

Huge Achievement

By this, he is referring to Madonna’s clever recreation of ‘Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A man After Midnight)’ in her song ‘Hung Up’.

Mark up a real achievement for Duffy especially because the 63 year old musician has admitted that he doesn’t generally like modern music at all. Though I suppose there has to be an exception to prove every rule!

He said that: “I don’t like bands which are manufactured. The Beatles, who wrote their own music, ate for me the ideal in terms of greatness. The band equivalent today is Coldplay.”

Although, even Bjorn admits that he can’t believe how popular ABBA still are even today. “Who would have thought the Eurovision would have led to all this?”

Even after all this time, the quartet from Sweden even top the list of bands that people would most like to see make a comeback!

What Do You Think?

Oasis Rocker thinks Amy Winehouse will be Dead Soon

Rocker Noel Gallagher believes that Amy Winehouse will be dead soon, he claims in an interview with NME magazine.

The Manchester born singer/guitarist of Oasis – the mid-90s bad boys of rock and roll – said that he has a huge amount of songs left over from recording sessions for the bands new album ‘Dig Out Your Soul’  which he thinks that Amy, 25, would be perfect for.

However, he believes her rampant drug abuse will end her life prematurely, so he’s thinking about Duffy instead.

He told the magazine: “I’ve got a backlog of 30-odd songs just sitting there. I don’t know what the f**k I’m going to do with them all.

“Could I give them to someone else to sing? Well, there’s a few that sound like girls could sing them, but who?

“F**king Amy Winehouse? She’ll be dead before I write another one.”

The 41-year-old guitarist knows what its like to work with a drugged up maniac. His twin brother Liam was notorious back in the bands heyday for taking lots of drugs, alcohol, and lashing out at photographers.

Noel reckons Welsh singer Duffy would be a good match for some of his music.

He said: “That Duffy’s alright. I could imagine her singing a few of the tracks. But I might put them forward for a film, although I don’t want them to end up in any romantic comedies.”

‘Dig Out Your Soul’, which includes single ‘The Shock of the Lightning’, is released on October 6.
